FAQs

Pawning your diamond bracelet in Mayfair offers an attractive way to generate capital from your item without losing ownership permanently. At New Bond Street Pawnbrokers, we provide short-term loans, allowing you to reclaim your bracelet upon repayment. This option is ideal if you want to take advantage of potential future appreciation of your asset.

Yes. We consider loans against a wide range of diamond bracelets. Suitable examples may include:

– Diamond tennis bracelets.
– Diamond rivière bracelets.
– Diamond bangles.
– Art Deco, Edwardian and antique diamond bracelets,
– Diamond-and-coloured-gemstone bracelets.
– Signed bracelets by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Graff, Tiffany & Co., Bulgari, Harry Winston, Boucheron and other established makers.
– Convertible pieces, such as bracelet-and-brooch combinations, where the fittings are original and complete.

A tennis bracelet is not valued simply by its total diamond weight. We need to know whether the stones are evenly matched, whether the setting and clasp remain secure, whether the bracelet is its original length and whether diamonds or links have been replaced over time.

Our Central London service offers loans against premium diamond bracelets from esteemed brands such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Graff, Harry Winston, Boucheron,Tiffany, and Bulgari. Our deep familiarity with these luxury pieces ensures pinpoint evaluations.

We specialise in loans for diamond bracelets. While we don’t offer financing on plain gold bracelets, we can consider pieces that are adorned with diamonds.

We physically appraise the bracelet as a complete, articulated object. Diamond bracelets experience repeated movement at the wrist, so an experienced appraisal looks closely at areas that do not appear in a simple front-facing photograph.

Our assessment may include:

– Total diamond weight and the size range of individual stones.
– The diamonds’ cut, colour, clarity, fluorescence and origin.
– Whether diamonds are uniform or graduated and how closely they match in appearance.
– The type of diamond cut.
– The metal, gross weight, hallmarks and construction.
– Link condition, articulation, stretching, solder repairs and worn hinge points.
– The clasp, tongue, box mechanism, figure-of-eight safety catch and safety chain.
– Whether the bracelet retains its original length, links and fittings.
– Signature, serial number, period, box, certificate and original paperwork.
– Comparable sales for genuinely similar bracelets.

For a tennis bracelet, another common appraisal issue is “bridge wear”, which is when the small connecting sections between settings can become thin or loose through years of movement. Issues like this may affect loan amounts.

The amount available depends on the bracelet’s assessed resale value, liquidity and condition. A final offer is based on the individual diamonds, construction, metal, maker, and provenance.

A higher loan amount may be possible where the bracelet has:

– Natural diamonds with strong colour, clarity, cut and overall matching.
– A desirable format, such as a well-made tennis bracelet, signed bangle or high-jewellery articulated design.
– Secure original settings, links, clasp and safety catch.
– A recognised maker, serial number, hallmarks and supporting documents.
– Strong condition, with no major repairs, missing stones or later alterations.
– A current auction and dealer market for comparable bracelets.

For a diamond tennis bracelet, we inspect the stones individually enough to establish their overall quality and matching. A 7-inch bracelet with 40 equal-size diamonds can be worth materially more than one with the same total carat weight but uneven colour, inconsistent cuts or several later replacement stones.

We don’t levy early payment penalties if you settle your loan early. You can regain your bracelet at any time during your loan contract.

Our standard loan terms are between two and seven months.

Per our terms and conditions, we can sell your bracelet if you fail to repay the loan amount. That said, we are open to working with customers to avoid these situations.

Bring any available documentation for your bracelet, such as certificates of authenticity, original receipts, or previous valuation reports.

Yes, we can choose to renew your loan, subject to our terms and conditions. Renewing your loan requires a fresh evaluation of your bracelet’s value.

We don’t accept found items. To pawn a necklace at our Mayfair location, you must demonstrate legal ownership.

Possibly. We can assess bracelets with wear, damage or missing components, but the likely loan amount depends on whether the issue is superficial, repairable or structural.

Examples of common bracelet-specific issues include:

– Worn or loose links.
– Damaged clasp or safety catch.
– Missing diamond
– Replacement diamonds.
– Stretched mesh or bracelet links.
– Hinge damage on a bangle.
– Shortened bracelet.

The key question is not simply whether a bracelet is damaged, but whether it remains safe, complete, marketable and economically repairable. We can explain how any condition issue affects the appraisal before you decide whether to proceed.

Our Central London team has extensive experience with high-end bracelets. They are trained to use tools and a range of techniques to authenticate jewellery and diamonds.

Yes, but the importance of metal weight depends on the type of bracelet.

We assess:

– Whether the bracelet is platinum, 18ct gold, 14ct gold, 9ct gold, palladium or another metal.
– Hallmarks, assay marks, maker’s marks and signs of re-plating or alteration.
– Gross weight, excluding any non-precious elements where appropriate.
– The style of setting: claw-set, channel-set, bezel-set, pavé-set, grain-set or invisible-set.
– The number, size and quality of the diamonds.
– The bracelet’s original length and whether links have been removed or added.
– Whether the metal has been stretched, thinned, repaired or reinforced.

A platinum Art Deco bracelet can have a relatively modest metal weight but substantial collector value because of its period construction, old-cut diamonds and design. Conversely, a heavy 18ct gold bracelet with modest diamond accents may derive much of its value from gold content and workmanship.

Yes. A diamond bracelet is generally valued as jewellery, meaning the mounted stones, setting, metal, craftsmanship and condition are considered together. Loose diamonds are assessed differently because their individual grading and resale route can be more transparent.

For a mounted diamond bracelet, we consider:

– Whether the diamonds can be adequately examined in their settings.
– Whether stones are matched, original and securely mounted.
– The setting style and potential cost of repair or removal.
– Whether the bracelet has a recognised design or maker premium.
– Whether the diamonds are principal stones or a large group of smaller calibrated diamonds.
– Any certificates, invoices or historical documentation that confirm diamond quality and total weight.
– A bracelet set with many small diamonds may have no individual certificates, which is normal. Its value is then based on a physical review of the diamond quality, total estimated weight, metal, construction and market comparables.

By contrast, a bracelet incorporating one or more major certified diamonds may have a clearer gemstone-led value. In either case, removing mounted stones is not automatically beneficial: it can destroy the value of a complete signed or antique bracelet. The strongest loan offer often reflects the bracelet as an intact, original jewel.

You can start online, by telephone or in person. An online enquiry allows us to provide an initial indication, but a final loan offer requires a physical appraisal of the bracelet at our Mayfair office.

For a useful preliminary assessment, send:

– A full-length photograph of the bracelet laid flat, including the clasp and safety fittings.
– Close-up photographs of the front and reverse of the links, settings and clasp.
– Images of hallmarks, signatures, serial numbers and maker’s marks.
– Details of total diamond weight, diamond certificates and any branded paperwork.
– The bracelet’s length, metal type, purchase history and known repairs.
– Photographs of the original box, spare links, certificate, receipt and service documentation.

Once we have inspected the bracelet, agreed the loan amount and completed the paperwork, funds are typically sent the same day.

Some bracelets require extra time. A vintage bracelet with uncertain replacement stones, a high-value signed piece, a bracelet with complex mechanisms or a multi-gem design may need further specialist review before a final offer can be made.

You can redeem your diamond bracelet at any point during the loan term by paying the outstanding capital and interest due under your agreement. Our loans are available over two to seven months at a fixed interest rate of 5% per month.

Before arranging collection, contact us for a current settlement figure. This confirms the exact amount due and allows us to prepare your bracelet, spare links, safety fittings, certificates and packaging for return.

For example, if you borrow £8,000 against a diamond tennis bracelet over four months at 5% monthly interest, the interest is £400 per month. If you redeem after two months, the illustrated settlement figure is £8,800: £8,000 loan capital plus £800 interest.

There is no separate early-redemption penalty. Once the settlement figure has been paid and the agreement is closed, your bracelet is released for collection.

Useful Guides

You can rest assured that you will receive a competitive deal on the market from the most awarded collateral lender in the UK. All our loans come with competitive rates of fixed 5% (Representative APR 60%), no hidden fees at all, no early release fees, and loan terms from two up to seven months. A representative example of repayment for a two-month loan of £2500 is £250, thus a total repayment of £2750 at a fixed 5% interest rate (60% per annum).
