FAQs

Here is an example of borrowing against a Rolex Submariner.

1. You own a Rolex Submariner in good condition, complete with its original box, warranty card, spare links and recent service paperwork. You can submit the model details, reference number and photographs online, call us, or visit our Mayfair premises.

2. The Submariner is a solid candidate for a short-term loan against a watch because they typically hold or increase their value each year. Depending on the precise reference, condition and market demand, a well-maintained Submariner may support a loan of approximately £5,000 to £15,000.

3. Our luxury watch specialist will examine the Submariner in person to check its authenticity, serial and reference details, bracelet and clasp, movement, dial, bezel, case condition, service history and the completeness of its set.

4. The appraisal determines that your watch supports a loan value of, for example, £10,000. You agree to a loan value of that amount, at 5% interest, over four months. That means a total interest rate of £2,000 over the loan term, meaning repayment at the end of that time will be £12,000 in this example.

5. Once you accept the loan offer and complete the agreement, the funds are transferred to your bank account. They typically arrive that day, and often within just two hours.

6. Your Submariner remains in our high-security, climate-controlled vault while the loan is active. It is insured during storage and is not displayed, worn or sold while you remain within the agreement.

7. If you redeem after the four-month term, you repay the £12,000 illustrated above and collect your Rolex. If you are ready earlier, you can request an up-to-date settlement figure and redeem without an early-termination penalty.

We require the watch’s certificate of authenticity, original box, and service papers if available. For vintage watches, provenance documentation may be accepted.

At New Bond Street Pawnbrokers, we primarily lend against fine watches with established secondary-market demand.

Some brands we offer loans against include Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, IWC, Omega, Breitling, F.P. Journe, Vacheron Constantin, Chopard and A. Lange & Söhne, among others.

A 70% loan-to-value outcome is realistic for a highly liquid, easy-to-sell watch in strong original condition, especially with a full set and convincing service history.

A 50% outcome is more likely where the exact model has less consistent demand, the market has recently fallen, comparable sales are limited, or the watch has condition, documentation or originality questions.

For example:

1. A Vintage Omega Speedmaster with an uncertain service history could get a valuation of £10,000 and a more cautious £5,000 loan at 50%.

2. A Cartier Tank with box, certificate and documented service appraised at £6,400 could support a 60%-70% loan of around £3,840–£4,480.

Once your loan is agreed, your watch is held in our high-security, climate-controlled vaults. It is never displayed, worn, loaned out or sold while the loan remains active.

Fine watches benefit from a stable, dry environment. As a general guide, long-term watch storage is usually kept at around 15–25°C with relative humidity of approximately 40%–60%. Stable conditions help minimise the risks associated with moisture, condensation and temperature fluctuation, which can all contribute to corrosion in a movement, deterioration of leather straps, degradation of seals and fading or damage to sensitive vintage dials.

Your watch is protected through:

1. Restricted vault access for authorised personnel only.
2. 24/7 surveillance and alarm systems.
3. Climate-controlled storage to avoid damp, heat, direct sunlight and sudden temperature changes.
4. Insurance cover while your watch is in our custody.

Yes. You can redeem your watch at any point during your two-to-seven-month loan term. Once the outstanding loan and accrued interest have been paid, your watch is returned to you.

There is no early-redemption or early-termination fee. However, interest runs from the loan date and on the same date in each subsequent month, so clients settling early must pay the remaining interest on the loan. Contact our team before arranging collection so we can provide the exact settlement figure for your agreement.

For example, if you take a £5,000 loan over four months but want your Rolex back after two months, call first to confirm the amount due. The settlement will include the £5,000 loan capital and the interest required under your agreed terms, which is £250 per month, for a total repayment of £5,500. No separate early-release penalty will be added.

Fine-watch loans at New Bond Street Pawnbrokers are available for two to seven months. Our agreement confirms the loan amount, fixed monthly interest rate and redemption date before you proceed.

For example, on a £5,000 loan over four months at our fixed rate of 5% per month, the interest would be £250 per month and the redemption total at the end of four months would be £6,000. If you needed to renew, you would first settle the £1,000 accrued interest, then extend the £5,000 capital loan under the renewal agreement.

You can redeem your watch at any point during the term by repaying the loan and interest due. There is no early-redemption penalty, but it’s vital to request a current settlement figure before collection.

No. A loan against a luxury watch is secured by the watch itself, rather than based on your credit score, income or borrowing history. We do not perform credit checks, meaning the application does not affect your credit rating.

The watch is held as collateral for the duration of the loan. Once the loan is repaid, you collect it back. If it is neither redeemed nor renewed, the watch may be sold to recover the outstanding loan and interest. The asset provides the security, which is why the valuation process is so detailed.

Yes. If you need more time at the end of your loan term, you can apply to renew your agreement rather than redeeming your watch immediately. Our standard watch-loan term is two to seven months, and a renewal can extend the agreement for a further seven months.

To renew, you must first pay the accrued interest in full. The original loan capital remains secured against your watch, and the renewed agreement continues on the same terms, including the fixed monthly interest rate.

For example, if you borrowed £10,000 for 7 months at 5% monthly interest, the accrued interest would be £3,500. Paying that interest allows the £10,000 loan to be renewed for another term, rather than requiring you to repay the full £13,500 immediately.

Always contact the team before the redemption date to arrange your renewal.

Your agreement confirms the amount borrowed, the loan term and the fixed interest rate before you leave your watch as security. We charge 5% interest per month, which is equivalent to 60% per annum and a representative 67.3% APR, but with no hidden fees.

For example, if you loan £25,000, then the monthly interest is £1250. In this case:

A 2-month loan carries a £2,500 interest rate, and repayment of £27,500.
A 4-month loan means £5,000 in interest, and repayment of £30,000.
A 7-month loan means £8,750 interest, with a repayment of £33,750.

Luxury watch pawnbrokers want timepieces that can be authenticated and valued with confidence. While the brand is important, our appraisal experts look at a variety of things, including:

1. Rarity: A standard Patek Philippe Ref. 5970R fetches around £130,000 at auction. A rare black-dial Ref. 5970R with a matching pink-gold bracelet achieved roughly £620,000. In this case, rarity meant a fivefold increase.

2. Demand: Stainless-steel Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” Ref. 15202ST traded above £115,000 at its 2022 peak. These days, they fetch nearer £45,000.

3. Original parts: Vintage Omega Speedmasters, Cartier Tanks and Breitling chronograph values are influenced by original parts. For example, a 1969 Omega Speedmaster “Racing Dial” with period-correct components sold for £51,200 at Bonhams in 2024. Later serviced dialled examples typically fetch around £30,000.

4. Documentation: A 2018 Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-001 supplied with its presentation box and certificate of origin, sold through Phillips in March 2024 for £80,000. Comparable blue-dial Nautilus 5711 without original boxes or papers were listed around £65,000 at the same time.

You can start online, by telephone or in person. Our online valuation form is designed to provide an initial estimate.

Some information you should include in your online/telephone application:

1. Brand, model name and full reference number.
2. Approximate year of purchase or production.
3. Ownership history.
4. Condition, including scratches, dents, polishing, faults or recent servicing,
5. Information about box, warranty card/certificate, receipt, service records, spare links and original accessories.
6. Up to five clear photos.

While many shops claim to be online pawnbrokers, in reality, no one can offer a loan without a physical appraisal. A final loan price can only be agreed once the watch has been physically appraised, which requires coming to visit our Mayfair office. In some situations, we can travel to clients.

Useful Guides

You can rest assured that you will receive a competitive deal on the market from the most awarded collateral lender in the UK. All our loans come with competitive rates of fixed 5% (Representative APR 60%), no hidden fees at all, no early release fees, and loan terms from two up to seven months. A representative example of repayment for a two-month loan of £2500 is £250, thus a total repayment of £2750 at a fixed 5% interest rate (60% per annum).
